Em Rowene been writing speculative fiction their whole life, if you count their first grade Narnia rip-off novel with griffins and cheesy nightmare sequences and have published in a few small places, like their undergraduate university's literary magazine and Honey and Lime Literary Magazine. They have a Bachelor's in Writing Intensive English, for which they specialized in both Romantic Period Literature and Creative Writing. They're currently working full time at a legal aid organization in Madison, Wisconsin, taking on freelance editing jobs in their spare time.

- Fractured Magic, the first installment of an epic fantasy duology. In it, a King is kidnapped and a team of spies and assassins travel across the country to rescue him, unaware that the imminent return of magic to the land will leave their mission unfinished. Published at emrowene.com.
- Northern Lights, a fantasy novella that tells the story of Mink, an angry beggar girl stick in the suffering half of a city magically divided in two. When she comes across the princess everyone had presumed dead, the princess's memory of her identity alchemically wiped from her mind, Mink realized this princess might be her ticket out of the city. (This novella is a queer retelling of the movie Anastasia, but with more magic, more action, and an angrier Anastasia).
- An as-yet untitled short story about a star that falls in the middle of Central Park and a minor urban deity that has to race a handful of not-so-friendly magical entities to get to the star and rescue her.
